You can continue using your old account though without verification though.

The system always came back saying that my password was incorrect. I “reset” my password–to the password I’ve been using all along–and now everything’s back to normal. It’s very weird. Although, I did link my cell phone no. in the States to my account, at least I tried to. Didn’t get any confirmation from weibo so I don’t even know whether I’m “verified” or not.
